P6 Pupils Conquer Slieve Gullion!

5th Oct 2016

Wednesday was a day to remember for our P6 pupils who travelled to Slieve Gullion and spent the day climbing to the summit. Along the way they took in the amazing scenery and worked together to reach the top. They discovered so many facts, tales and legends about the Ring of Gullion as they battled the strong winds which added to all the excitement. It was a beautiful day, although it wouldn't have mattered as the boys and girls were kitted out in full climbing gear. They were ready for whatever the mountain threw at them. There were many highlights along the way such as having hot chocolate by using a gas cooker near the summit. Having lunch under a sheltered canopy and entering the 'witch's cave' at the top were others. The boys and girls could see for miles in every direction. It was an amazing experience and everyone had a wonderful time. Thank you to Phil and Colm who led the walk and provided the equipment as part of our school's extended schools programme this year. Well done to all our P6 pupils who represented the school so well and had an absolute blast!
