Covid-19

18th Mar 2020

Dear Parents,                                                                                              18.03.20

As the Covid-19 virus continues to affect us all on a daily basis, it is necessary that we do everything in our power to minimize the potential impact on our families and wider community.

I feel obliged to inform you that one of our pupils has been advised by their doctor to self-isolate for 7 days due to that child showing Covid symptoms. I must stress that this is a precautionary measure and the child has not received a positive diagnosis. As a result, the school will be undertaking a deep clean today on top of the thorough clean that it received on Friday as an extra precautionary measure. I have discussed the matter with Mr. F. Burns, Chairperson of our Board of Governors and as a result of this, I will then be using Thursday 19th and Friday 20th March as Staff Development Days where staff will begin to organise work packs for pupils. However, at present, unfortunately we have still received no guidance from the Dept. Of Education on what procedures to put in place once the schools do close. Therefore, school will be closed for the rest of this week for pupils.

I fully appreciate that this places an extra burden on all our patents, however at this time, the health of all our pupils, staff and extended family is my main concern.

I thank you for your anticipated support on this matter.

Kevin Woods
